Wildlife Safari and Chimpanzee Trekking
5 DAYS KIGALI, AKAGERA & NYUNGWE NATIONAL PARK ADVENTURES
Day 1: Arrival
Arrival at the Kigali International Airport meet the guide for a brief introduction about Rwanda and the trip and transfer to the Hotel for overnight rest.
Day 2: KIGALI CITY TOUR DISCOVERY & TRANSFER TO AKAGERA – BOAT CRUISE
Breakfast at the hotel and start the historical-minded exploration of Kigali city with visits to landmarks from colonial, post-independence, genocide and post-genocide times. i.e; Kigali Genocide memorial site where over 259,000 genocide victims were put to rest in mass graves, Dr. Richard Kandt Museum who was the first Germany explorer to settle in Kigali, Belgian camp where they killed the 10 Belgian UN soldiers who were protecting the moderate prime minister before the start of genocide.
Afternoon transfer to Akagera National Park. Arrival and transfer to Lake Ihema for the thrilling boat cruise to see schools of hippos, giant Nile crocodiles, buffaloes, and different species of water birds.
DAY 3: FULL DAY GAME DRIVE & TRANSFER TO KIGALI
Early Morning transfer to Akagera National Park for a thrilling boat cruise on Lake Ihema and a full day game drive starting from south and exit in the north in search of Wildlife. You will have packed lunch box and soft drinks for the day. Search for the big 5 that include lions, Rhinos, Leopards, Elephants and buffaloes plus the 12 species of antelopes including the biggest antelopes such as the eland cape and roan antelopes, some of the 525-bird species including 4 rare birds of Akagera, reptiles, amphibians, plants, magnificent landscapes, historical sites; a place with the highest concentration of birds per square kilometer than any other national park of Africa and hundreds of hippos etc. Exit through North and transfer to Kigali.
Day 4: TRANSFER TO NYUNGWE ENROUTE VISIT MUSEUMS & CANOPY WALKWAY
Transfer to Nyungwe en-route start the historical-minded exploration of Nyanza – visit the King’s palace and traditional Rwanda home; the National Museum, introduction to Rwanda’s kingdoms, discovery of colonial architecture. Continue to Nyungwe Forest for the canopy walk an artificial bridge above 70 m above the ground to view the thick Nyungwe canopy from above also birdlife and different vegetation covers.
Day 5: CHIMPANZEE TREKKING AND TRANSFER BACK TO KIGALI
Early breakfast at 4:30am then drive to the edge of the forest where chimpanzee trekking in Nyungwe starts. Transfer to Kigali and to the Airport for your flight back home.
